［嵐ファン］Which one of the "Reborn" or "Remix" songs is the best in your opinion as a music producer? 

音楽プロデューサーとして、"Reborn "と "Remix "のうち、どの曲が一番優れていると思いますか？

［DJ Kevin］I find that “Face Down: Reborn” stands out as my favorite among the other amazing songs on the album. The electro pop vibes are captivating and I find myself randomly singing, “tell me, tell me!” at any given time. The chorus sticks in your brain long after listening and the arrangement is impeccable. 

Rebornシリーズはどれも素晴らしい名曲揃いですが、その中で一曲選ぶなら「Face Down : Reborn」です。エレクトロ・ポップの曲調が魅力的な、思わず歌いたくなってしまう曲で、サビは一度聴いたら頭から離れないくらい耳に残るし、アレンジも非の打ちどころがないと思います。

［嵐ファン］If you ever get to re-produce three songs to be included in VOL.2 of the "Reborn" series, which songs would be your selections? Please also explain briefly, how you'd like produce them; i.e., "IN THE SUMMER" to be reborn as EDM or "Whenever You Call" to be reborn as 70's disco etc. 

もしRebornシリーズのVOL.2に収録される3曲をプロデュースするとしたら、どの曲をセレクトしますか？どのようにプロデュースしたいかも簡単に教えてください。回答例は「IN THE SUMMER」をEDMに「Whenever You Call」を70年代ディスコ風にという感じでお願いします。

［DJ Kevin］Yes, from the moment I heard these three songs, I’ve imagined adding a twist to them. I envision an acoustic version of ‘The Music Never Ends’ stripped down to just the vocals, a piano and violin. I would redo “Party Starters” with an EDM/future house style, heavily dance infused sound that fits the upbeat vibe of the song. And one of my favorites, “果てない空” I would accentuate the jazz elements by making the bass prominent and introducing a saxophone or trumpet into the composition. 

曲を聴いたときから、アレンジを加えてみたいとずっと思っていたのは、この3曲です。 「The Music Never Ends」は、アコースティックバージョンで。ボーカルとピアノとバイオリンだけに絞ったものが思い浮かびました。 「Party Starters」は、EDM/フューチャー・ハウス・スタイルで。曲のアップビートな雰囲気に合った、とびきりダンサブルなサウンドでリミックスしたいです。 そして、私のお気に入りのひとつ「果てない空」は、ベースを一際目立たせたり、サックスやトランペットも取り入れたりして、ジャズ的な要素を強調した曲にプロデュースしてみたいです。

［嵐ファン］How do you feel about the breakthrough of J-Pop artists in PINNACLE AWARDS? 

PINNACLE AWARDSにおけるJ‐POP勢の躍進をどう見ていますか。

［DJ Kevin］Absolutely awesome! The immersion of J-Pop into the station’s programming has been incredible for the platform and its listeners. The clamor surrounding the J-Pop artists that were nominated in many of the Pinnacle Award categories has encouraged us to expand the J-Pop specific category next year beyond just J-Pop Song of the year. We will now issue awards for “Best J-Pop Artist”, “Best J-Pop Group” and “Best J-Pop Album” 

本当に素晴らしい快挙です。私達やリスナーにとって、J-Pop勢の番組への進出は信じられないほどの出来事でした。 ピナクルアワードの多くの部門でJ-POPアーティストがノミネートされたことを受け、来年度からは「J-POPソングオブザイヤー」部門だけでなく、J-POPに特化した部門を増設することにしました。「ベストJ-POPアーティスト」「ベストJ-POPグループ」「ベストJ-POPアルバム」といった部門の表彰を行う予定です。

［嵐ファン］About the past three Arashi special programs. What were some of the innovations or difficulties you faced in planning them, and what was the response after they were broadcast? 

過去3回の嵐のスペシャル番組について。企画で工夫したこと、苦労したこと、放送後の反響などはありますか。

［DJ Kevin］The biggest innovation for us surrounding the ARASHI special programs has been our use of cinematic trailers to promote the broadcasts. Each trailer has been produced to contain symbolic tributes to either an ARASHI song or video or Japan in general. For example, the trailer for December’s show simulated ARASHI’s live performance of ‘Kite” by incorporating balloons floating up to the sky in Tokyo and landing over the New York City skyline. The most difficult challenge of planning the show is actually deciding the final playlist and subsequently, figuring out the order of the songs. It’s definitely the most lengthy process involved with putting together the shows as I want the songs to be an entertaining mix of the most popular ARASHI songs that we play regularly and ones we’ve never aired before. Once the playlist songs and order have been settled, it is full speed ahead and just enjoying the moment of producing the show to flow with the aura of an ARASHI concert. The responses during the programs and afterwards are so heartwarming and authentic. It’s such a joy to see the gratitude expressed by the ARASHI fans across our social media. The anticipation leading up to the event is also amazing with some fans even creating their own graphics for the show. 

嵐の特番で最も革新的だったのは、映画の予告編のような動画を使って番組の告知をしたことです。それぞれの予告編は、嵐の曲やMV、あるいは日本を象徴するオマージュとして制作されています。例えば、12月の特番の予告編では、嵐の「カイト」の公式ライブ動画に寄せて、東京の空に舞いあがる風船がニューヨークの摩天楼に到着する様子を取り入れてみました。 特番を企画する際に一番難しいのは、最終的な選曲と、その曲順を考えることです。普段から放送している嵐の人気曲に加えて、今まで放送したことのない曲をミックスして楽しんでもらいたいので、これは番組を構成する上で一番時間がかかる作業です。曲と順番が決まれば、あとはARASHIのライブの雰囲気にも似た演出の瞬間を全力で楽しむだけ。番組中や終了後のリスナーからの反応は、とても心が温まるものです。特番までの期待度がとても高くて、中には特番のためにオリジナルアートを作成してくれる人もいます。嵐ファンの感謝の気持ちをSNSで受け取る事が出来るのを、大変嬉しく思います。
